Edubuntu 7.10 (Gutsy Gibbon)
These images are vulnerable to USN-612-1, a very serious flaw in the cryptographic library used to generate encryption keys. It is essential that you apply all security updates after installation before making any use of your system.
Select an image
Edubuntu is distributed on three types of images described below.
Desktop CD
The desktop CD allows you to try Edubuntu without changing your computer at all, and at your option to install it permanently later. You will need at least 320MB of RAM to install from this CD. You can install additional educational programs using the classroom server add-on CD.
There are two images available, each for a different type of computer:
- Mac (PowerPC) and IBM-PPC (POWER5) desktop CD
- For Apple Macintosh G3, G4, and G5 computers, including iBooks and PowerBooks as well as IBM OpenPower machines.
- IA-64 desktop CD
- For Intel Itanium and Itanium 2 computers.
Classroom server CD
The classroom server CD allows you to install Edubuntu permanently on a computer. It includes LTSP (Linux Terminal Server Project) support, providing out-of-the-box thin client support. After installation you can install additional educational programs using the classroom server add-on CD.
There are four images available, each for a different type of computer:
- Mac (PowerPC) and IBM-PPC (POWER5) classroom server CD
- For Apple Macintosh G3, G4, and G5 computers, including iBooks and PowerBooks as well as IBM OpenPower machines.
- HP PA-RISC classroom server CD
- For HP PA-RISC computers.
- IA-64 classroom server CD
- For Intel Itanium and Itanium 2 computers.
- SPARC classroom server CD
- For Sun UltraSPARC computers, including those based on the multicore UltraSPARC T1 ("Niagara") processors.
Classroom server add-on CD
The classroom server add-on CD contains additional useful packages, including many educational programs and all available language packs. It requires that an Edubuntu desktop be installed on the machine.
There are four images available, each for a different type of computer:
- Mac (PowerPC) and IBM-PPC (POWER5) classroom server add-on CD
- For Apple Macintosh G3, G4, and G5 computers, including iBooks and PowerBooks as well as IBM OpenPower machines.
- HP PA-RISC classroom server add-on CD
- For HP PA-RISC computers.
- IA-64 classroom server add-on CD
- For Intel Itanium and Itanium 2 computers.
- SPARC classroom server add-on CD
